High-Level Business Dialogue on Climate Adaptation and Resilience
Tuesday, 16 January, 2024, 07:30-08:30 CET
Earth Room
2023 has been declared the hottest year ever recorded, and 2024 is likely to be worse. Even if global warming stays within 1.5°C the need for adaptation to the impacts of climate change is enormous. Though businesses are already mobilizing to find and scale solutions for the energy transition and climate mitigation, the full potential of private sector innovation and investment has not been realized for adaptation.
Every dollar invested in adaptation leads to returns between 2 and 15 dollars. This sessions will serve as a strategic exchange between business leaders on how to develop markets for private sector led solutions to climate adaptation and resilience.
Opening remarks from Feike Sijbesma Co-Chair of the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders (World Economic Forum); Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Royal Philips; Co-Chair of the Supervisory Board, Global Center on Adaptation (GCA).
Followed by a roundtable discussion of business leaders chaired by Patrick Verkooijen, CEO of GCA.
