What will the world look like when “Nature Intelligence” drives our food systems?
Monday, 15 January, 2024, 19:15-21:30 CET
Never has large-scale, effective collaboration been as urgent and necessary to reduce GHG emissions from agriculture, halt habitat destruction, and revert soil degradation. Leading agrifood companies have long been aware of the need for food systems transformation. Financiers are increasingly attentive to the devastating impact of nature-related risks to economic and societal stability. COP28 recognised agriculture as one of the most urgent battles for long-term planetary prosperity.
The issues at the heart of land-related economic activities and supply chains are geographically diverse and complex. Whilst technology has matured, we cannot afford to continue with small-scale, uncoordinated efforts, overlapping activities, inconsistent methodologies, and inefficient verification methods, resulting in low levels of transparency and trust in voluntary initiatives and declarations. We need a radically new, systemic approach to act synergistically and achieve impact on a global scale.
In this session, we wish to share our vision and propose a path to jointly build an Open Nature Intelligence Exchange, based on a digital public infrastructure that facilitates coordination, standardization and sharing of land-related data across food supply-chains, promotes active agency of local farming communities, ensures good governance, and preserves healthy market dynamics of the food sector. We wish to share our experience, learn from that of other leaders, and we are prepared to share our assets for common good.
